Why use Natdata's online backup facilities?

There are several reasons natdata's offering is better than any of the other emerging solutions. The first is that we are local to you, we dont offer this service to the whole country, only to small businesses and home users in the havering vicinity. All online backup facilities rely on your connection to the internet, and regardless of how fast a connection you are paying for, your upload to the backup server is limited on ADSL to a maximum of 840Kbs and on dial up to 56Kbs. This means if you have a large number of files or very large files, the first backup can take many hours, even days!. Natdata being a local company can call at your business and take the base data copy away on a portable hard drive and then load it onto our servers. The next time you do a backup only new or changed files are uploaded, making the backup process quick and efficient. Secondly the software we recommend is capable of knowing which files to backup without having to contact the backup server, so it doesnt have to do lengthy comparisons of the data to work out which data to back up, this again increases the speed over some of the other offerings. Thirdly and compellingly, in the event that you were to have a catastrophe and lose all your data, Natdata Ltd, being a local company, can quickly and efficiently deliver your data to your door on CD or DVD, saving you downloading what may one day be thousands of files. For smaller restores of just an accidentally deleted file or folder, the software can automatically resynchronise the data on your PC or server, getting you back to work quickly. Natdata Ltd also have a local consultant who can help you rebuild your system if necessary, something the other offerings cannot do.

Your data is secured.

We use an encrypted link between your computer and our servers, similar to the encryption method used to make credit card payments secure, so you can be sure your sensitive business or personal data is secured in transit. Our servers are backed up too, so even in the unlikely event that the data was lost on your PC/server at the same time it was lost on ours, there would still be a third copy of the data from which a full recovery could take place. In addition our servers use a system known as RAID. This is a system which means that your data is stored on more than one disc at a time so even if our server has a hard disc failure, your data will still be available to you, even without us having to go to our backups.

Optional Pre-Encryption

If you have particularly sensitive data we can set the software up to encrypt the data before it is transmitted. This means that it is stored as encrypted on our servers and even we can't decrypt it. We only recommend this in extreme circumstances as if you lose the decryption key you cannot recover your data when you need to. We can set it up at your site and put the encryption key on two  memory sticks, one of which we recommend you take home for storage. We will make a small charge for this.
